Eco Council
Intent
At Hormead School, our Eco-Council is determined to keep the school clean, tidy and kind to the environment. We ensure that the are recycling our paper and saving electricity in any way we can. We take care of our environment by watering the plants, not littering and recycling where we can.
It is important to us that we protect local wildlife by not leaving food waste and litter around on our playground. We also know that waste can be washed away into local rivers and streams so make sure that plastic waste is disposed of properly and food waste is composted. We understand that saving electricity not only saves money but impacts the size of our carbon footprint. When classrooms are not in use, we are encouraged to remind teachers to turn off lights and interactive whiteboard screens.
In the future, we hope to improve the amount of single use plastics that are placed in packed lunches.
